The Penthouse at Grand Plaza

The view was beautiful and the room service was quick and respectful!

This is not a hotel. It is a business plaza skyscraper with a narrow ground floor lobby, lobby front desk attendant/security, mailroom, business center, package/mail room, elevators, etc. you won't find in a bellmen, however the front desk and front door attendants are helpful and kind individuals who will break their leg t+o assist you. You will feel the disconnect from any typical luxe hotel schematics, space, amenities, and customer service. There are no personalized concierge requests, early check-in or late check-out, readily duplicating lost key cards, room service, lobby bar, main house housekeeping. Hotel is just not the best thing for that space. Don't go there with an entitled, spoiled, or uncompromising disproportion Otherwise, absolutely no issues with host or property or security. Apartment is smaller than it reads. A little older, couple touchups here and there would (+it up) , overall very very very comfortable, convenient, affordable. It was a nice stay!

Great stay with a great view. It was very cold but you could stay in the room and never need to leave. Good food nearby and via delivery. The fireplace was a nice touch during the cold month. It was extremely quiet in the building, you could only hear the wind most of the time. Grocery store is below, so there is no need to carry any bags far, if you seek to make breakfast within the room. All essentials were provided. We could walk comfortably from the penthouse to different tourist locations. There was some wear and tear with the property but nothing that took away from the stay. My only complaint would be that they need an updated front rug because it did cause us to trip over it a few times-- most likely from the door hitting it often. They had a cute little guest book for everyone to sign. I would likely give it more of a 4.5 than a 5 star rating because nothing is ever really perfect, but I would not downgrade it to a 4 to do so. I have no idea why any of the comments have said that they got scam vibes, I never once felt that way. Communication was great from before we got there to after we left. I would definitely stay at this location again.

Stayed in penthouse 5505. Amazing views. Great beds. All the necessary items in the unit. Bring clothes and enjoy your stay. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 kids. Great views of the city and lake. Owners communicated everything you needed to know. Offered solutions for our luggage. Large dining table for meals of you want to cook. Full kitchen. Washer and dryer in the unit.

I couldn't be happier with my stay at the Penthouse at Grand Plaza. The staff was exceptional, the unit was clean to my standards, which are high. The view was spectacular. The location couldn't have been more perfect, walking distance to most everything I wanted to do during my stay. Redline subway stop on the corner made getting to Wrigley Field for the Winter Classic very easy and painless. Thanks so much to Jim and Jeri-Lou for their kindness and hospitality. The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was stocked with everything I needed including bags for the grocery store so I didn't have to buy any. The grocery store is actually attached to the building, made life very easy when I needed something.

We have been at the Grand Plaza in 2019 already, so when we came back in August 2025 almost felt like coming home. The Place was comfortable and what was for vacation very Helpful that everything you needed Even Zip Lock bags for City Tours were in the kitchen, and you have extra towels for the beautiful Pool Area which is equipped with Multiple Grills were we at Dinner and chatted with the mostly tenants living here. Everyone was extremely friendly and Lou and James helped us with some special requests we had. We had Apartment 7 and even a look from the balcony towards the Navy Pier Fireworks while we were there. Unfortunately the Navy Pier Trolley which was stopping right at the front door die not exist anymore, but with the Bus Line and Grand station right next to the building you can get to anywhere in the City with Public transportation. If we manage to safe up for another trip, we would go there again.

This is truly an amazing space! Being able to have an entire condo with amazing amenities - probably the best in the city of Chicago - and its location is un matched! I was really worried because of the reviews, but please ignore those! This is a high-end condo. Not a hotel. If you want to throw huge parties and trash the place, go somewhere else! It's a sophisticated condo with high standards! This is why it appealed to me. James, Jim, and Jeri-Lou were amazing to deal with. Informative and very insightful. They are very direct and want to keep their condos immaculate and in good standing. I can respect how hard they work to keep their property in perfect shape and to respect the entire building and it's occupants. The condo is super spacious, and the deck is unbelievable! Wake up early and catch the sunrise around 4:45/5am...it's unmatched anywhere else! It's a fully loaded condo with everything you might need! Amenities are out of this world. You won't lack anything here! I already can't wait to go back to Chicago and stay here again! Thank you Jeri-Lou and team for all you helped us with!
